Planning an Elopement or Intimate Wedding in Ireland

Whether you're travelling from abroad, planning a celebration for just the two of you, or gathering your closest family and friends, here are some of the questions couples ask most often.

Discover More

What is an elopement?

An elopement is a wedding that focuses on your experience rather than a large guest list. For some couples, that means just the two of you. For others, it means sharing your day with a handful of your nearest and dearest.

There are no rules. The beauty of an elopement is that your day can be as simple, adventurous or meaningful as you want it to be.

What’s the difference between an elopement and an intimate wedding?

Typically, an elopement involves just the couple or a very small number of guests.

An intimate wedding usually includes between 10 and 50 guests while maintaining a relaxed and personal atmosphere.

I specialise in both and can help you create a celebration that feels right for you.

Can we legally get married in Ireland?

Yes.

As a registered Solemniser, I can legally marry couples in Ireland. I’ll guide you through the legal requirements and paperwork process, ensuring everything is completed correctly ahead of your wedding day.

We’re travelling from overseas. Can you help us?

Absolutely.

Many of my couples travel from abroad to marry in Ireland. I can guide you through the legal process, recommend trusted suppliers, suggest beautiful venues and help make planning from afar feel simple and stress-free.

Do you help us choose a venue?

Yes.

I work closely with a number of beautiful venues that are particularly suited to elopements and intimate weddings, including woodland settings, historic chapels, private estates and unique city-centre locations.

If you’re not sure where to start, I’ll help you find the perfect setting for your celebration.

Can you recommend photographers, florists and other suppliers?

Absolutely.

Over the years I’ve built relationships with talented photographers, musicians, florists and other wedding professionals who specialise in intimate celebrations.

I’m always happy to share recommendations based on your style, location and budget.

How far in advance should we book?

Popular dates can book up well over a year in advance, particularly during peak wedding season.

If you already have a date in mind, I recommend getting in touch as soon as possible to check availability.

That said, if you’re planning something more spontaneous, don’t hesitate to ask — I occasionally have last-minute availability.

Can we write our own vows?

Of course.

Many couples choose to write personal vows and I provide guidance, examples and support throughout the process.

If writing isn’t your thing, I can also help you create vows that feel authentic and meaningful.

Can we include Celtic rituals?

Yes.

Ireland has a rich tradition of symbolic wedding rituals and many couples choose to include elements such as:

  • Handfasting
  • Ring warming
  • Oathing stone ceremonies
  • Unity candles
  • Quaich ceremonies
  • Wine box and love letter rituals

I’ll help you choose rituals that genuinely resonate with your story and values.

What if it rains?

This is Ireland, so we always have a Plan B.

Whether you’re marrying in a woodland setting, a private garden or an outdoor venue, we’ll work with your venue and suppliers to ensure your day remains relaxed, beautiful and enjoyable regardless of the weather.

How much do your services cost?

Every celebration is unique, so pricing depends on the type of ceremony, location and level of support required.

Elopement and intimate wedding packages start from €695.

Please get in touch for a brochure and detailed pricing information.

Do you only provide ceremonies?

No.

While I am a registered celebrant and solemniser, many couples choose to work with me because they want support beyond the ceremony itself.

Depending on the package you choose, I can help with venue recommendations, supplier referrals, ceremony design, timeline guidance and creating an overall wedding experience that feels personal and stress-free.

How do we get started?

The first step is simply reaching out.

We’ll arrange a chat to discuss your plans, answer any questions and see whether we’re the right fit for one another.

From there, I’ll guide you through every step of creating a meaningful, memorable and beautifully personal celebration.
