Trusting someone with the details of your wedding deserves a plain explanation of what happens to them. Here it is, in ordinary words.

Who I am

This website is run by Áine McKenna, working as Celebrate Love, a wedding celebrant and solemniser based in Blackrock, Co. Louth. For the purposes of Irish and European data protection law, I am the controller of the personal information described on this page.

If you have any question about how your details are used, you can reach me at info@celebratelove.ie or on +353 87 796 3190.

What I collect

When you send an enquiry, through the form on this website, by email, by phone or through Instagram, I receive the details you choose to share. That usually means your names, your email address, a phone number, your preferred date, your venue or location and a little about the ceremony you are dreaming of.

If you decide to book, I also keep the information needed to plan and deliver your ceremony and to meet my legal obligations. That can include your ceremony plans, copies of your marriage notification paperwork, your service agreement and invoice records.

I do not collect sensitive personal details beyond what is needed to plan your ceremony, and I never sell your information.

How I use it

Your details are used to reply to your enquiry, to check availability and hold your date, to plan and write your ceremony, and to keep the records that a booked wedding legally requires.

If you have asked me to stay in touch while you decide, I will keep your enquiry on file so that our conversation can continue. I do not send marketing emails unless you have asked for them.

The legal basis

For enquiries, I rely on your consent and my legitimate interest in replying to the question you asked me.

For booked ceremonies, the legal basis is our contract: the service agreement you sign and the legal duties that come with being a registered solemniser.

For invoices and accounts, the legal basis is my legal obligation to keep business records.

Who else can see your details

The enquiry form on this website is provided by Dubsado, the booking system I use to receive and manage enquiries. Your message is stored there, and I read it from my own account.

This website is hosted and protected by specialist providers. Email and diary services I use are operated by established providers on my behalf.

Beyond those services, I only share your details when the law requires it, for example in connection with marriage notifications to the HSE, or when you have asked me to.

Some of these services may store information outside Ireland. Where that happens, standard contractual protections required under European law are in place.

Photographs and your story

If we agree that photographs, an extract of your ceremony or a note about your day may appear on this website or on my Instagram page, I will always ask you first, and I will only publish with your written permission. You can change your mind at any time and I will take the material down promptly.

I never publish a couple's words or photographs without permission, and I never invent or embellish a couple's story.

How long I keep things

Enquiries that do not become bookings are kept for up to two years, in case you come back to me, and then deleted.

Records connected to booked ceremonies are kept for six years, in line with Irish requirements for business and tax records, and then securely destroyed.

Your choices and rights

You can ask me at any time for a copy of the details I hold about you, to correct them, to delete them, to limit how I use them, or to receive them in a portable format. You can also object to how I use them and withdraw consent where consent is the basis.

Just email info@celebratelove.ie and I will look after it myself, usually within one month.

If you are ever unhappy with how your details have been handled, please tell me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to contact the Data Protection Commission, the Irish regulator, at dataprotection.ie.

Cookies and this website

This website keeps things simple. The technical cookies it uses are there to keep the site working and to remember choices such as your preferred stories filter. They are not used to follow you around the internet or to build advertising profiles.

The enquiry form is embedded from Dubsado, which may set its own cookies so that the form works properly. Their own privacy notice explains how they handle that.

Changes to this page

If anything here changes, I will update this page and adjust the date below. If a change affects how your own details are used, I will let you know directly.

Anything here you would like explained differently? Just ask.
